> Everyday that passes we realize that we have very distinct patterns. There are certain elements that are easy to see and that help predict your future. I’ll give you a simple example, assume you are a smoker. I can predict you will have a troublesome old age with your lungs. Was that too easy? I’ll give you another example; let’s assume that you are easily angered. I see that in your old age you will have high blood pressure. Was that too easy also? Well, it’s that easy to identify thousands of patterns that we have as individual and as a collective individual (society) in order to make a prediction.
> A friend gave a lecture a few months ago making evident a pattern that we all have. This pattern involves the concept of “we” and “they”. Humans use this distinction a lot. Some phrases used in this sense are “we are right, they are wrong”. Another phrase “we have the only true religion, while they are wrong and are condemned”.
> The moment we start using the “we and they”, we are establishing a distinction against “them”. This distinction has the taste of making war. A war that can be physical, verbal or mental. You can see that people with a mind set of “they” are in conflict with many people. On the other hand people with mind set “we” are in better conditions to achieve their goals. Therefore a change is made by looking for the “we” in a situation where you see the “they”. This isn’t easy at first.
> I can help with a real current situation. Let’s assume that you are in a company in the “x” industry. Your local competition would be a “they”. You suddenly are aware that the whole industry in your city is working to improve working conditions and to bring in more investments for the good of all. At that moment, the “they’s” are now “we”. “We” the people in the “x” industry of our city. To this, I give it a twist by telling you that your country is competing to keep the “x” industry from going to another country. A leading representative would say “we want to avoid losing investments to the Chinese”. Now the “we” extends from your city to the country level and China becomes “they”.
> Let give yet another twist. The CEO of the biggest company in “x” industry makes an announcement that he will develop technology to give health care to the needy in the world. With this announcement all the companies in the “x” industry become “we” (did you notice that now the “they” are the sickness?). Did you see that we can twist several “they’s” into an all inclusive “we”. If we were only capable of doing this simple mind set change we could end wars, hunger and sickness. All this at our reach without any needs of building a factory, without the need to do a radical scientific discovery, without anybody having to change religion, without a change in physical habits, without a special tax.
> What are you waiting for? I already started with this new mind set. Turn the whole world into a “we” in your mind to impulse this change. Look at the following video and take note that one of the messages that Sai Baba mentions is “make of the world your teammates”, in other words, “turn humanity into a we” (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jlH915HI-Y8).
